Pilates For Men Makes Good Fitness Sense

There is a trend happening in Pilates. More and more men are calling for private Pilates sessions. This may not seem unusual in larger cities like New York or Boston, but in smaller venues, Pilates for men is taking off. Why the sudden interest? Like their female counter-parts, men come to Pilates for many different reasons. Some are injured and trying Pilates as a part of their re-hab. Others are aging and looking for a kinder form of strength training. But a common thread is their shared interest in trying something new.

In my neck of the woods, men mostly view Pilates as exercise for women. Funny, of course, because Joseph Pilates was a Man’s man. A very athletic, cigar smoking, forward thinking man who really developed his exercise regime for men. The thought that Pilates is for women only couldn’t be farther from the truth. This new influx of male clients is refreshing in that they are willing to try everything and anything.

Pilates for men offers strength, flexibility, balance and core strength, benefits for all people. But for the man who is tired of the gym scene or looking for a new way to approach exercise, Pilates is the answer.
