Mom And Teen Workouts

Your teenager comes home after school looking bored and sees you lying on the living room floor on a traditional fitness mat, squeezing a lightweight Pilates ring with your knees. A Pilates fitness ring DVD plays on the TV, and something that looks like miniature bowling balls lay at your feet. She’s thinking mom has lost her mind. But then your daughter picks up a large foam full roller and wants to know if there are any workouts for teens that she might like? A smile crosses your face.

Home teen workouts are actually what you had hoped your daughter would want. You want to do this right, so you both agree to try a Pilates mat class together, to kick off your new fitness lifestyle.

Fitness Tips:

Make a contract: Most people will honor a binding contract. If you agree to workout together, put it in writing! You stand a better chance at adhering to the program.

Set a date: After you sign an agreement, set a date to exercise together. Most people will keep a date if they make one.

Diversify: Keep it interesting. Vary your workouts depending on the weather, time of day, inclination, etc.

Compromise: You may want cardio, she may want Yoga. Do a combination of both, or alternate days.

Smile and laugh: Enjoy yourselves! Exercise should never feel like a task.

So include mom into your teen workouts. You both will be closer for it.
