Find Your Fountain Of Youth
As your body ages, what will you do to keep energy in your life? Do you love running, biking, hiking, or walking? Maybe it’s Yoga, Pilates or swimming. Stay active and you’ll have more energy and enjoy life to it’s fullest. Not sure where to begin in finding that fountain of youth? Getting a physical from your doctor is a good first step, than find yourself a personal trainer and start your journey of getting fit and restoring your own personal fountain of youth.
Strength training is an important part to growing old gracefully. Keeping your bones and muscles strong will help fend off the onset of osteoporosis. Having a strong body will also allow you more freedom in your every day movements and may keep you injury-free. Try simple exercises with free-weights. Basic dumbbell moves like bicep curls and shoulder presses can strengthen your upper body and lunges and squats holding a dumbbell in each hand will strengthen your lower body. Working these exercises can also improve balance. Keeping your balance as you age is imperative. Exercises done on a BOSU or wobble board will enhance any free-weight exercises you’re doing by challenging your core and ultimately your sense of balance.
Growing old is a fact of life, but it doesn’t have to be the end of an active life. Stay fit and keep moving and seek out professional trainers to teach you correct form and you just might find your fountain of youth.
