Weighted Resistance
Weight training or strength training is a specialized method of conditioning designed to increase muscle strength, muscle endurance and muscle power. Regular strength training, using correct technique, will help improve posture, reduce injury, increase metabolism, as well as increase bone density and build strong joints and supporting tissue.
Weighted Resistance training works by stressing a muscle or muscle group by pushing or pulling a weighted object, like a barbell, dumbbell, cable apparatus, etc. The body will synthesize new tissue to accommodate the demands
placed on it by resistance training. The goal is to gradually and progressively overload the musculoskeletal system so it gets stronger.
Equipment like medicine balls is a great addition to any home gym. Weighted vests are more mobile and can be used around the house while doing chores. As an alternative to aerobics try some weighted resistance. It may be the right choice for you.
